After School Program Christmas Play

Following a pot luck lunch at Harper Chapel United Methodist Church, the Shining Stars After School Program presented it's first annual Christmas Play, "A Shepherd's Story". It is the story of the very first Christmas as seen through the eyes of the shepherds. The children practiced each Wednesday in November and December. The performance was AMAZING!  The play was followed by the Kids of the Kingdom Hand Chime Choir playing their "unique" rendition of "Away in a Manger".

The Shining Stars After School program is open to children Kindergarten through sixth grade. It is in session Monday through Friday from after school until 5:30 p.m. The cost is $5.00 per day and $7.00 for early release. Scholarships and openings are available. Lenten Study

Lenten Study beginning on Ash Wednesday and continuing through Lent:  4:00-5:30pm. 24 Hours That Changed the World by Adam Hamilton. These sessions will examine the geographical and historical setting of those fateful events.
You will reflect on Jesus' death through discussions of Scripture and other sources; and ultimately, see yourself in the story, considering how the failures and weaknesses of all of us mirror those of a Judas or John, a Peter or Pilate.  A video viewing of locations in the Holy Land will be part of each session.

The text is $11.33,  the book of daily reflections is $6.29.  I do want you to have the text, but do not let the price of it keep you from attending these sessions.  The daily reflections are very good, but optional.

This study is open to everyone, and bring a friend!  Please advise me of your participation by February 14 so I can order the books.

Harper Chapel Holds Christmas Dinner

Harper Chapel UMC held its annual Christmas dinner at 6:30 on December 16, 2011. 73 members and friends gathered to celebrate Christmas, enjoy great food and entertainment. The food was catered by Outback Steakhouse here in Osage Beach. The Lake Note Choir provided excellent entertainment by performing a variety of Christmas songs.
