Welcome to United Methodist Women in 2012! The Harper Chapel UMW meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month, except August.
All women are invited to be part of this community of women who know God through Jesus Christ, are a creative, supportive fellowship,
and involve themselves in mission to women, children and youth, both locally and globally.
Our meetings consist of a spiritual devotion, a mission spotlight from Response Magazine, a legislative or social issue brought to our
attention, an emphasis on the Reading Program, and welcoming new people and nurturing all. We do conduct a business meeting,
present mission ribbons, and recognize birthdays of the month during lunch which is provided by various members.
Three of our programs in 2012 include presentations from Citizens Against Domestic Violence (CADV), Kid's Harbor, Della Lamb
in Kansas City.
There are several ways you can join us actively in mission: The Monday Morning Girls meet each Monday to count Best Choice coupons,
quilt, make tray favors for the hospital, prepare and/or collect health kits, birthing kits, layettes, and make the craft items for the
fall bazaar.
We bring "in kind"items to the meeting such as: imperishable items for the food pantries: soap, paper towels, tooth paste and brushes, etc
for Della Lamb.
Other opportunities include UMW Sunday, April 15 The Taste of Chocolate, April 21 Hats for Lake Regional cancer patients, July 12
Fall bazaar, November 3 The Christmas program and Tea, December 13.
Prayer and Self-denial will be the program for our March 8th meeting. It will be given by our own dynamic Vice-President,
Jan Campbell. The program will center around the way UMW works to put "Love in Action" using technology to reach
women, children and youth around the world. An offering is always taken during this program.
I and our unit at Harper Chapel look forward to seeing you at our meetings.
God be with you.
